There is a seal behind the speedo gear and the front bearing, does anyone have any ideas on how to remove it without taking off the toque tube?

You are talking about the Model A?
The torque tube has to be removed, can't do it with driveshaft installed.
To remove that seal; spring loaded retaining clip removed, the speedometer gear, thrust washer and bearing then have to come out, then torque tube removed from rearend. The bearing sleeve then needs to be pulled. The tube needs to be removed so seal can be driven out from the rear.
If you are asking about something different, then we would need more information.

Just checked my Victor Page book, yes, they are the same. I forgot, you also need to take the speedometer drive off first.
Was the other site Fordbarn.com? If not, suggest signing up there too. Pretty good replies and active web site.
