Very interesting 1912 Torpedo FS on FB

Post by Tbird » Wed Dec 07, 2022 8:23 pm

I have no connection with this seller

1910 Torpedo all OEM parts new except rebuilt chassis parts. 5 new wire wheels and tires. Brass windshield not shown. EV control and power panel and traction motor not included. No engine. Has differential. Built as EV. Driven 4 years til battery pack expired. Amish top not correct. Fender dent. Nice Brasswork.
Can be reconstructed as updated EV or with motor and transmission for guesstimated 90.000 by my specialists in Harvard, Ill., who did original work on this prototype. The late Gordon Williams was one of specialists, who had an international reputation. $12,000

YIKES! And sounds like a boatload of BS.
If it is mostly later model T parts and reproduction stuff? It may not even be worth 12K.

Now, Wayne, the advertiser did not say what the international reputation was for... ;)

And for $90,000 he can put it back to being electric. There is no reason to be cynical about it.

Be nice

If it was nearby, I'd take a look at it. $90 K makes no sense at all. 12K + 9 K to put a correct T driveline in it might approach making sense. As it sits, wrong wheels, wrong top, wrong paint, no motor/transmission, and who knows what mods ....$ ? NOS sheetmetal? Not likely.

Looks like nice 26/27 wire wheels. IMHO, a little awkward looking on a "1910." No windshield either.

And it is a Pickup to boot! Guess that's where the battery's go. (OT, the following is not a T) This one would be my cup of tea if I had the money for it and it is close to me: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10 ... 1332376854
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

You people are overlooking the dust, which clearly indicates that this is an all-original barn find.
