Stainless tie wire

What gauge is the stainless steel tie wire used on engine and transmission bolts? I know it must be dead soft for twisting and bending but i am wondering on the gauge or diameter.

I don’t use Stainless Steel wire. Just ordinary steel wire.

I use .032 for smaller bolts, and .041 for larger.

Same as Jeff - I also have a pair of aircraft safety wire twist pliers. If you're not likely to use them a lot, Harbor Freight makes a cheap pair for $10.
