Look what Santa got me for Christmas.
Santa = my wife.
The one needs a little cleaning up, but at least they match.

What a nice lady. It's hard to find the right gift sometimes. Matching plates are harder to find so that is perfect.
I'm so happy for you.

I bet the rusty one was installed on the car bracket, and the new-looking one was tossed under the seat with the tools.

Merry Christmas Sean!
Those plates are in great shape. If you want to take it one more step see below.

I have used Larry a few times. Does good work

Thanks Rich. I knew there was someone out there that did beautiful restorations. I will make sure it is in the budget for the rebuild.

Sean, I'd be happy to take them off your hands to put on my "Dr's Coupe".
If you ever get to the capital, look me up.

Noel, I think I might take you up on one of those things. Maybe I'll see you in 'Peer'.

I wanted to keep the original green background so only painted the letters.

Re: Look what Santa got me for Christmas.
To register my 27 vintage plates in NY state, the DMV required that the plates must be original, and NOT restored. Fortunately I had found a very good set of matching plates, and don't need to restore them.
You might want to check with your individual state's DMV first to register a car with the vintage plates before restoring.
Just my 3 cents,
John
