What kind of a radiator is on the eighth picture? It is a Ford because of the front suspension, but has a different radiator.

Those are accessory fenders, hood and radiator shell to spiff up and modernize a 15-16 Model T.

Overwhelmed with nostalgia - again. Thanks Tom. Wonder what the contents of the bottles displayed against that ‘25 touring ? Law enforcement personnel posing. And a few centerdoor pictures appear to have unpainted wood around the windows...

Wow! There is really a contrast in the 4th picture from the top.
The Center door T looks really ancient being being pulled around with the more modern wrecker.

I’m thinking the wrecker is a mid to late 30’s pickup. Anybody else got a guess?

And a couple pictures down from that a big crowd around a 5ct hamburger stand, these days you'd have a riot on your hands selling 5ct burgers !

Wrapping the spare would prevent weathering of the rubber, and in the case of an unmounted casing, it would protect the tire from collecting mud and prevent rainwater from accumulating in it.

15 from the top is a sad and macabre moment from Kentucky's history. I believe the photo was shot outside of Sand Cave near Cave City Feburary of 1925. While Floyd Collins was trapped in the cave below, and rescuers risked their lives working to save him, there was practically a carnival above the ground. The public turned the event into a spectacle, it's a humbling story.

Here is a good photo of Floyd's brother, Homer, above the surface. I can't imagine what must have been going through his head, he never gave up though, rest his soul. I don't own the photo.

I'm glad you were able to read the story. A brief explanation doesn't do it justice, a simultaneous display of humanity at its worst and best.

I always love a MTFCA side bar. What a story! I wonder if they ever recovered Floyds missing leg?

The tragedy of Floyd Collins did not end with his death...

"Floyd was eventually removed from the cave after several years and interred in a family cemetery. Floyd’s father Lee sold the cave and property to a local dentist named Thomas, who somehow obtained permission to exhume Floyd’s body and put it on display in a glass-lid coffin in the entrance to Sand Cave, where hundreds of tourists could gawk at his decaying corpse. It gets weirder. Eventually, Floyd’s body was stolen—presumably by rival cave owners who were angry at the amount of tourists the body was attracting. After a few days his body was discovered in a field, minus one leg which was never recovered, and he was put back in his coffin in Sand Cave—now sans the viewing lid, though people still peeked inside. The National Park System bought Sand Cave in 1961 and closed the cave to tourists, but surprisingly, didn’t give Floyd a proper burial until 1989."
