Speedster Progress

Post by Jeepbone1 » Fri May 24, 2019 8:56 am

The speedster build is progressing very well if I do say so myself! With the main deck on, then came the task of trying to figure out some kind of firewall that didn't affect the fit if the steering column. First tried just a wood firewall and it set the column way too far back so it was back to the drawing board. My uncle had a steel firewall from a 26-27 enclosed car that mounted perfectly in front of the wood firewall that is now effectively the "dash". My bill is really running up from taking all of his good parts..... Anyway I solved the windshield hinge debacle with the help of a very generous vendor at the Luray swap meet. They're definitely not 26-27 but they look slicker than anything mounted up! The mounting brackets took a little persuading from a deadblow mallet but they're tight. Next step is the seat and tool box!
