The firewall that came with my stripped chassis is a reproduction and I am looking to buy an original firewall. I have no idea what these 2 holes are for on the passenger side. Can anyone tell me? 1925 Roadster.

choke rod adjustment for carb

The 25's used the same choke/mixture single control rod as the improved T's. Before this the choke rod was much further up on the F/W attached to a riveted on bell crank. So, I can confirm what it is not, but not what it is. This looks like a job for Original Smith.

Might vary by year, not Ford supplied holes as far as I know.

Rich posted pictures that are instructive. I cant tell for sure, but, that hole could be for the single mixture/choke rod.
The firewall has the earlier separate choke bell crank & mixture holes also. Transition?
Humble J's looks to be a 24, early 25? style F/W with the separate controls.

might someone have routed a speedometer cable thru one?

This is my 1925 roadster I picked up last fall. Engine # puts it the first few days of May 1925. From what I've read the late 25 to 26/27 used the choke rod without the bell crank similar to the later Model A setup. On mine I think someone tried to convert it to the newer setup as the bottom hole was enlarged and the choke rod has a section welded on and the end squared up to fit the u-joint setup (choke rod sleeve and wire were missing). I'm in the process of putting it back to the bell crank style. Just waiting on some parts now.

Update, and more mystery. I checked my unrestored 1924 roadster firewall and it has those 2 holes with nothing going thru them. My choke and mixture go thru other holes in the firewall and spedo cable goes thru the floorboard. The floorboard has a relief area to clear the holes.

The rust makes it difficult to identify. Does that firewall have four holes for the patent plate or two? Two is a 1925. Late 1925 firewalls have no bell crank for the carburetor, but the two holes for it are still there.
