Epoxy?

Doing an engine rebuild and found camshaft bearings epoxied in place! Why would this have been done and any recommendations for undoing it?

With a brass drift can you tap them forward? It may require trying to chip off the epoxy then tapping to break the bound.

Try a bit of heat to release the epoxy. No doubt was attempting to cure the infamous cam bearing knock…
