I know this is not T but related to our hobby. I am confused on the dates for Hershey. They changed the days for last year so we entered the field on Monday morning for set up and finished on Friday for the car show. The yellow information sheet in the package for registration states that the fall meet is October 3,4,5,6,2023. October 3 is a Tuesday. Does that mean Tuesday is for set up?? This will be my 54th year and I want to make sure I understand the RULES. We all know how important the Hershey RULES are.

So, same schedule as last year 2022.......flea market set-up day is Monday and the show is on Friday.

Hershey around 1970. It was a mess, but memorable. I been to every one since 1969 except for when Uncle Sam got me.

I only went once. That picture reminded me of it. They said we were having a drought. The river was almost dry. The actual day of the swap meet was so rainy that water was running over the side of the bridge like a waterfall and the picnic benches along the river were under water. I only went in part way and while there met Bruce McCalley. I didn't buy anything because we had flown in and was looking for ignition coils. I was afraid that if I carried them back in my luggage they might think they were some kind of bomb. That was the first and so far only trip I was ever in Pennsylvania. We saw some strange things like Lancaster where they had Farmers Market with some young women dressed like Amish walked out and took off their covering and got into a car and drove off. We also went to Philadelphia and had a cheesesteak sandwich. We saw the Cracked Liberty bell. Would have had to make reservations to see Independence Hall but it would have been late and we didn't feel real safe on the streets that time of day. We had taken a bus in. We saw a replica of Independence Hall at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, Ca. anyway.

Many go for the experience, camaraderie, or sheer force of habit, but I go mainly to find and buy parts.

It's a great experience, but for non-locals, it's an awfully expensive way to buy parts, what with the gas, hotels, entry fee each day, etc.

There are ways to reduce the costs, Steve Jelf is the expert on that.

That said, it's the only place to find obscure parts from those that don't "do" Ebay, Facebook marketplace, or other online sales venues.

Also, It and other swap meets are the only way to get parts that need to be inspected in person before purchase.

I have attended for the last five years, but I am debating skipping 2023 because I don't have a current project that needs a long list of parts.

As FJ has indicated, the Hershey Region of the AACA's Fall Meet website is the ONLY place to find the correct information on the show, dates and times. With the changes the last few years, there is a lot of mis-information floating around on the internet... however you can always find the correct and up to date information on the Region's website.
