The newest addition to my 26-27 Stoplight collection arrived by U.S. Mail today from western Nebraska. From the looks of it, the area around the mounting holes on the license plate bracket show it probably was mounted and used at one time, but the area around the slotted holes to mount the license plate to the bracket, show no appearance of ever having had a plate attached. The original nickel plate on the rim, is flawless, as are both the red and clear lens. They both show no scratches. The light body and license plate frame have (at my estimation) at least 90% of the original Ford gloss black paint. The guy I bought it from, runs a independent owned auto parts store in a small town in western Nebraska and didn't know if it was Model A or Model T. He just knew it was Ford from the Ford script on it. One look at the picture he sent me had me foaming out my mouth. He said a customer bought it in to him for some credit on his bill. He said this happens sometimes. I told him that if he gets any more Model A or Model T stuff in, to give me a call. Now, the best part. He wanted a Postal Money Order for payment and the fee was $1.50. I sent the Money Order by Priority mail to him which was $9.65. His shipping fee was $5.00. The light and license bracket was ONLY $45.00. Total invested $61.15 to my door. Update: I called him this afternoon to thank him and tell him that it had arrived today. I saw on the package that the actual postage was 12.70; $7.70 MORE than he charged. I told him that I would sent the difference to him. He told me not to bother and to apply it to the next Model T parts that I bought. I asked him, again, to let me know if he gets any more Model A or T parts, small enough to ship by mail.

I have two of those license plate brackets for non-stop lights. Both have weld repairs at the curves above the plate mount. Yours doesn't appear to have been welded. That is quite a nice part.

Very nice. I have a complete one coming, not nearly as nice as that one, but about the same price. That rim might be a reproduction can't tell about the lens.

No, Mark, its all original. After collecting over a dozen Ford and a dozen Dodge and one Huppmobile lights, I can recognise orignals when I see them, plus the only reproduction complete stoplights and their individual parts haven't been made for decades. I know they were at one time, butI think it was possibly as late as the 1970's or 80's.

I knew Lang's , Snyder's, and possibly Chaffin's carry the gaskets. I was not aware of the rim and or red lens, being available from any vendor as a reproduction. I doubt that any one low enough on funds to pay his bill at an auto parts store, would have the extra money to buy a new red lens and nickeled rim for an otherwise original light. The red lens has C.M.Hall Lamp Co. 3200 cast onto the top inside edge of the glass lens, so unless the reproductions have the same I.D. as the originals - well draw your own conclusion.
