Faster than a horse and cart! For those days, they were rapid! I can remember when my dad was driving on the new Pasadena Freeway from Los Angeles called the "Arroyo Seco Parkway". He said look I am going 45 mph1 I asked him, "Why don't you go 70?" That was around 1940. If my mom had worn dentures, they would have dropped out when she said,"That's too fast! No one will go that fast!" She lived to see the day when the speed limits were 70 in some places.

LMAO!! Yeh, definitely couldn't offer "same day delivery" past 2 PM for sure!!

"Fast" and "rapid" are relative terms. A horse pulling a wagon at 8 mph or a TT truck at 15 mph? Which one is faster?
Most people today think a model T is so very slow. However to people that grew up when the the horse was the most common mode of local transportation, a model T was like lightning fast!
