What are all these 1926 tail lamp wiring doodads things are I see in this drawing?
Have no desire to install all this stuff just curious what it looked like from the factor for a 1927 Touring.

I did this one on my '25. This was easy to do as the parts were available. It does keep the wire where it should be.

Since the body is mounted on top of the springs, there is a lot of independent movement between the chassis and the body in the form of bouncing , rocking and flexing. If you install the rear light wire between the chassis and rear left fender without installing the slack take up spring assembly, the wire, without the ability to move and stretch independently, may break. If you choose not to install the spring, you will need to allow sufficient extra wire to allow for the movement, but I seriously recommend installing the spring that will manage and keep in check, the slack necessary to allow for the movement, or the extra slack may hang down so far as to get caught on something and get ripped out. The wiring on our Canadian cars follows the body/chassis/spare tyre carrier as a unit and the spring movement plays no part in working on the wiring. The little spring loaded fibre piece is there purely to maintain tension on the wire to stop if flapping around once it leaves the last support grommet on the rear of the battery carrier. Henrietta still had the fibre piece on her taillight wire when I rewired her.
Incidentally, the fibre piece on our car has just two holes for the wire to pass through. A third smaller hole for the spring goes to the rear. The assembly is positioned so that when the spring hook is hooked to one of the split pin heads on the rear spring U bolts, the wire going forwards on the car is kept under tension. Aft of the spring it is loose and restrained in an additional clip on the tyre carrier.before it gets to the tail light.
