We are fortunate in Kansas to have the Flatlands Model T club, which is a healthy club that always has good events and work days. "According to the internet", the first organized Model T polo event was held in Wichita, Kansas in 1912. Our club has an original T polo car, and a second car built up by a member in the last few years. The club decided to hold its first, and hopefully annual, auto polo event held this year on Memorial day. Who knows when the last time a polo match was played with Model T's.
We had a great turnout for the event, and anyone who wanted to try driving or being the mallet person got their chance. I took one turn and it was a lot of fun. I took the first picture below and wisely decided it was time to put the camera away and hold on! The third photo was a staged action shot showing the two cars. There were several students from the nearby McPherson college auto restoration program there, and hopefully they will build up a polo car out of donated T parts in the future.
The last two pictures show some of the T's in attendance, including a Model T tractor with great "patina". The last photo shows a very unique home made coil box top.
In between matches we had a great cookout and people got a chance to drive the tractor if they wanted to. Good time had by all, and thankfully no "reportable injuries".
