Just now on my boss's retirement party day, we had a race between my '26 Roadster and his 2022 Electric Bike. He won by at least 5 or 6 car lengths! It makes me wonder what Henry would have thought about today's technology.......

Scott, I presume it was a drag race you staged. I'll bet a T with a tankful of petrol would outrun any E Bike.

It's all about range!!!!

It was a drag race. A short one. Honestly the T isn’t running the best.

A horse would probably beat either one.

A stock ‘26 roadster at wide open throttle should be able to hit a hair over 55 mph on a flat straightaway if everything is in good shape…

With stock rear axle gearing, "a hair over 55 mph" is 2,300 rpm. I would never consider stressing my Runabout's crankshaft and cast iron pistons at that rpm.

At the Old Car Festival they featured a drag race, probably 300' or so between a model T and a high-wheel bike. The high-wheeler would make a big loop and approach the start line at a moderate pedal speed and the T would take off from a dead stop. High-wheeler won every time.

Speaking of the Old Car Festival...Registration for the best antique car show around is now open.
