Great start with over a 50mph average for Day 1!!! Way to go Dan, Larry and Tony! Keep the levers Down and have a safe run.
There is more than one M 500 web site. You have to use the Facebook site to see the videos posted and current standings

Thanks Todd for posting the results. The Montana 500 page is slow to post the standings. Dan Brown is a friend of mine so I'm pulling for him to win and he's off to a good start. Dennis Powers was a 40+ year friend of mine and a former winner of the 500. It looks like maybe Dan is driving Dennis old roadster this year.

Yes, Dan owns Dennis Powers winning racer and I believe it what he is driving this year.
Top drivers If I can read my text correctly... This may be Only for leg # 7?? They had close to 268 miles today.

Larry Azevedo 54.55 MPH
Dan Brown
Eddie Wright
Tony Cervoski
Jerrome Potter
Rick Bonebright
Janet Cerovski

This is subject to correction since my copy is very small and hard to read!

Good Luck to all tomorrow on the final leg!!

Dan, You ran a Heck of a Race!! Over 53MPH is awesome. I think if you would have had a bit more time you might have passed Larry?
Hope you Iowa boys have a safe trip home! Well Done

13 SECONDS in 500 miles separate #1 & #2. Fantastic.

Johnny, Did you see that average speed? You had to look down below the #11 car to be almost under 50 MPH AVERAGE.. That includes stop signs and speed limits thru towns. Out of the 17 cars only 2 failed to finish and a third opted to withdraw after driving 386 miles.

Information I heard about the breakdowns: 1. After a panic stop (no outside brakes allowed) in some modern traffic something broke in the driveline and the car wouldn't move forward.

2. Another car lost steering when the steering gear cover came off with the steering wheel!

3. Driver decided to withdraw when car started to overheat at mile 386.

One other car had a flat tire which was replaced under time and continued to race.

Congratulations to Larry Azevedo, Dan Brown, and Eddie Wright top three places. After the tear down and inspection Larry's car was declared the winner for the 2023 Montana 500!

I'm curious (honestly so) why the organizers are so dead set against "outside" (external contracting) brakes... when we had that tragic accident, what was it, 2 years ago, where a car could not stop for the turn over the freeway and rolled, and now this one, where they lost the driveline, it would seem to me that External contracting brakes could be a lifesaver...

If someone can give me the organizers reasoning why they're so dead set against them, at least I might understand... if it's because "A T never came with them", well, a T didn't come with aluminum pistons or one piece valves either, yet they're OK... and safety on this timed event would be improved if allowed.
