Special delivery for BushMike. A nice little load on the TIme Machine. Trying to round up enough TT rears to find a couple good axles. I took the non-Ruxtell apart and found one pretty nice axle with very little shaft wear. The opposite side with the loose cage was shot.

… If the right rear 20” rim is any good, I have a lock ring for it I’d sell. Good score of TT parts BTW. I’ve heard that TT Ruckstells more than likely have the 5.25:1 worm and ring gear

This frame sat for 20 years and sunk in the wet muck. I was really surprised that the radius rods are in very good shape. It would be a very pleasant surprise to find a hi speed gearset in that rear! If the Ruxtell proves to be in decent shape, I may rebuild it and put it on the Time Machine this winter. My plan is to tear into the rear end and completely rebuild it. I may source a modern CR oil seal for the inboard end and hopefully get a good enough seal that a good set of rebuilt brakes will stay dry and can actually be used to help stop the truck in a tense situation. I have a LOT of hills and grades locally that make me finish the last little bit in Ford low. I think the 1.6 reduction in the TT Ruxtell would be ideal for staying in High on a good percentage of these hills. That and the Twin-High Hi-Lo would technically give me a 12 speed TT. Low-low-low aught to let me idle up Brockway Mountain or pull a 4 bottom plow!

Yeah, today was a fun 45 mile round trip. I felt like I hit the lottery this morning. A 1/4 mile out of my cabin, I followed the Forest Service plow truck grading the road north. The Time Machine loved that brand new flat gravel without a bump in it for over 10 miles. I still have to go back and pick up the rest of the frame. Lots of goodies on it. I saw a wolf on the way home.

I cant help myself! I seem to gravitate to wrecks so far gone most would relegate them to the scrap pile. Its a personal challenge with me to bring these derelict hulks back to life or at least save them as organ donors. I am just the current caretaker. I hope that eventually, when I can’t tinker anymore, I find a young kid that shows interest in my pile of parts and projects…..he or she will get it all. My kids sure don’t want it!
