I have heard of a Buick piston used in in a Model T. With a Model A rod. Any idea which one? Thanks Dan.

I pulled one down once that had Olds. pistons from the 260 mid 70's that where in this one. Hope this helps.

We have used 312 Ford Forged Pistons in the 26-27 T Blocks.

The Ford 292 Y-Block piston looks like a potential winner.

3.75" bore
1.760" compression height

The wrist pin is 0.912", which could be fixed by adding a bushing to change the piston from a fixed pin to a swivel pin.

For the bigger bore engines, the 3.80" bore of the 312 would be used

My old Buddy/Mentor used 292 Ford Y block pistons on at least one build, about 35 years ago or so, long before we had the internet and other info available. Some mods were done as I recall, but very doable. JMHO Dave

Using 292 pistons requires cutting and welding the connecting rod if you use A rods. Plus, they have very little dome on them so your compression ratio is going to suffer.

To each his own but what is the reasoning using other pistons when the Model T pistons are readily avaliable? Just wondering what’s the advantage.

The problem as I understand it is that pistons for A crank A rod T engines are no longer being offered. For those of us capable of doing the work ourselves this is a great economical solution

50 years ago many used the piston from 55 Chev. V8 They pin opening was bushed to use a Model T Ford pin.

John Steinbeck wrote about T's in a couple of his novels. In Grapes of Wrath, while the truck the Joads drove wasn't a Ford, Tom Joad goes to a junk yard at night and finds a replacement piston from another make vehicle to replace the piston & rod that went bad in their truck. This business certainly isn't new.

I have a 22 with 55 ford alum pistons.

Where this going is I am looking for piston to use with a Scat Stroker and A rods. See my post about this crank with Scat rods. Looks like the A rods will hit the cam also! So, back to drawing board. Dan

Hey Dan rods will not hit cam I have these in my engine and I know of at least one more running the same parts

Forgot to say you do have to go down with a end mill and cut a little clearance on the front cam boss on the block not hard to do,hope this helps Randall

Besides what Randall stated, the only other nicking was on a Roof 310 cam for me. Nicked the rod just a little, then re-balanced the others to match.
