Speedster project Rajo 4 valve test run

Ive been going thru some of my Speedster Project Update photos and videos from when I built my speedster a couple years ago. During the time I built the car I was not able to post the videos of the project. I just never really tried to learn the YouTube thing. Now that we have a YouTube channel for our vintage camping, I know how to post them now. I found the test run for the engine after the Rajo 4 valve head install. I thought some folks may like to see a 4 valve running. I did have my wife post a couple short Facebook clips back then but no, better-quality YouTube videos. The engine went into the car with the yellow wheels not the red car.

This is not on our camping YouTube channel @Model T Camp and Adventures for those who subscribe to it. It is on our second YouTube channel @ Poppie's Vintage Garage. I started it to just put anything Model T and car related on and not fill up our vintage camping channel

Click the link below for the video ...

Some of the mods to the engine are:
1 Rajo 4 Valve head
2 .040 over aluminumn pistons
3 290 lift camshaft
4 American Bosch front plate distributor
5 Sherman deep sump oil pan
6 no magnets on flywheel or mag ring
7 high volumn outside oil return line
8 Radioactive Polonium spark plugs ;)
9 Miles cast iron dual exhaust manifold
10 Not shown in this video but the Miles dual exhaust feeds into a Taylor Loudspeaker muffle/exhaust dump after it was installed in car.
11 Stan Howe rebuilt Stromberg OE-1 carb feeding a large bore hi volume intake manifold.

When the weather cools off, I'm wanting to get the car out and make a video of it running thru the 1/4 mile. I've had the car out several times and I do not think I have the nerve to really put it thru its paces. It is scarry fast.

Let me know if ya'll want to see any more of the videos from the speedster project even though they are a few years old ...

Yes, very nice indeed!

The valve action is mesmerizing and it sounds great. Donnie, if I recall, did you install some kind of fancy tail pipe system on your speedster? If so, how does that sound?

I am also very jealous. I need an excellent fast T engine builder in Northern California or the West Coast to help me make MY own YouTube video. Here is what I have to work with.

Erik Barrett in Auburn should be able to assist - he likes "go fast" stuff !!!

Sounds great Donnie. Haven't seen a 4-valve running before.

Regarding your crankshaft; did you install a new/upgraded crank, of is it an original? I've always been a tad concerned about adding horsepower to my engine (have a Rajo Model 30 with a Stromberg RF) with the original crank. Don't want to push it too much and join the "broken crank club".

My engine had an EE crank in it. It was in good shape with fairly fresh babbitt. So I left it. I was trying to stay with a period correct, as could have been built back then, type of build. I also tried to use used parts from my stash of parts to build the engine. I think it will hold up well as long as I try and keep the RPMs down.
T4Tom. Yes I installed a Taylor loudspeaker muffler/cutout/exhaust dump on the car. It is fed by a Miles cast iron dual exhaust manifold. The sound is unreal. It does not sound anything like a Model T. The ad for the Taylor Loudspeaker says it will give "a thunderous roar like a twelve cylinder race car" the ad was not lying. It has to be heard (and felt) to really understand.

Three pedal. Very Nice. If you use it I highly suggest to change the two separate rocker shafts to a single rocker shaft. I switched to an original rocker cover. Originally they had the one piece rocker shaft. The two separate shafts are for use with the two separate rocker covers instead of the one piece cover. With the two shafts the rocker towers wiggle and will eventually will fail.
