Cars getting ready for run of the day.

Today was a trip to the www.Maxbats.com factory where they make baseball bats. We saw the process of making a bat from start to finish.
We also went to a wood factory where they make spindles for chairs & stairs, and also columns that would be placed in a large house or any other place where large wooden columns are needed. They also make hanging stairs for any architectural design.

That Model B is a wonder. Dioes any one know where the model B is that was sold in western Minnesota perhaps 50 or so years ago?

Today we all drove to the county fair and then to a senior citizen home.

Nice pictures. How many cars on the tour? Was that 1913 Pierce Arrow the same one that was on the MTFCI TOUR?

The tour total changes every day. It was approximately 40-45 today.
Some cars break down before the tours and others during them.
There is a pre-tour Wed-Thur-Fri in which any car can participate.
I thought the Pierce Arrow was 1912???
The long run on Saturday, 120 miles, only cars from 1908 and earlier can participate.

Sometime in model year 1913 was the first year for Pierce Arrow's famous fender headlamps. The 1913 was a one year only somewhat crude looking variant, riveted onto the fender! 1914 was the first year for the smooth molded into the fender style headlamps we all know and love.
I believe at least some of 1913 models may have still used the earlier style lamps like on the roadster on the tour. For customers that preferred a more sedate or "normal" appearance, Pierce Arrow continued to offer the standard style headlamps as an option, almost up to the end of production of their fine automobiles.
Wonderful tour! So many fine early automobiles being driven in one place! Wish I could be there.

Saturday was the big run. I believe 37 cars started, but I do not know how many finished. Paul Sloan offered to let me ride in his Model S. Great guy. We started like everyone else, but at some point the navigator, me, missed a turn. We ended up on a dirt and gravel road. Thanks to google we made the next stop. All was going well until about the halfway spot when we started having tranny problems. Finally at 20 miles from the end of the run we pulled off. After about 1 1/2 hours of working to fix it, we set out again. We escorted a huge tow truck the rest of the way to the end of the run. Last , but not least and we finished. After a few congratulations I had to leave Paul and return back to New London to get my car. Decided to head for home and arrived at 330AM. Safe and sound. Looking forward to next year. Hopefully taking my speedster with me.
