Anyone know the dimensions and location of the bumpers used on brass windshields? I know they are attached somewhere to the lower frame to keep the upper frame from banging together when lowered. I assume they are made of rubber and are screwed into the frame but that's just a guess. If anyone has a photo I'd appreciate it.

If you do not find originals, temp ones can be used. Any office supply or picture frames shop has nice bumbers that stick on.

Richard, I've only seen them on automatic windshields. I believe there is a small piece of brass rod brazed into the frame and then a white rubber cap fits over the rod. It may be held in place by a screw. Just my .02.

Thanks Kim and Darel. At one time I had a windshield with one bumper remaining but it was not an Automatic. I'll see what I can find retail.

Richard, to kinda 'muddy up the water', there is another option for you since you have a sample to work from. We use a 3D printer at my shop to replicate small things such as that very thing which helps us in one-off restoration work. In your case, you might have a high-school or college drafting class draw your windshield's rubber bumper in CAD, and then find someone to 3D print a bumper mold in tandem out of either PLA or even ABS plastic. This would allow you to print 2 bumpers simultaneously. Locate and mix some semi-rigid off-white rubber. Then cast (fill) your molds with the white rubber to replicate the bumpers.

Is this anything like you are talking about?
If so, I'll take some dimensions and better pictures.

Richard, I have an Automatic windshield on my Torpedo and it has white rubber bumpers on the lower half of the windshield. I don't know if this is what you are looking for or not. Russ Furstnow

I've puchased some rubber bumpers ans wish to attach them with screws. Im thinking of screwing them into the bottom horizontal frame just inside the clamps on the outer edged of the firewall. Here's the rub. I have a Speedway Motors windshield frame and don't know if the slugs on the bottom curved corners extend far enough toward the middle of the frame so my bumper screws will bed into the slugs. Ant thoughts?

I had both a Rands and an Automatic ‘11 Torpedo windshield. The Automatic had the screws in place for the bumpers and the Rands had original bumpers intact. Here’s a picture of the Rands.[image][/image]

I have also seen photos of ‘11 cars with what certainly look like white or lighter colored bumpers.
