Bruce was a lot faster than me! https://youtu.be/iuJycR6F7KU I think I need to tighten-up my motor, and learn how to launch...

I have created a Registry for Model T Quarter Mile times: www.tinyurl.com/modeltquartermileregistry
Anyone can add their time: www.tinyurl.com/modeltquartermileregform

Join in the fun!

Would sure be interesting to see how the winning Montana 500 car compares to these dragsters!

How about it Larry Azevedo, Garrett Green, or Tom Carnegie???

I've seen Ron Miller peel rubber for at least 15 feet in his flathead engined speedster. Don't know what his time was, but it was sure one quick T!!!

Just remember, the Montana 500 cars are pretty much stock, except any camshaft can be used as long as a blpck modification is required. The flywheel to crankshaft mounting is probably modified as well.

Took me all day to watch Bruce take all day to prep his calendar year ‘13 touring for the quarter mile. I’d sure like to have a Brush like his 😜

Art M, I suspect you meant "as long as a bl"-o-"ck is" -not- "required"? Not being picky. Just want to be clear.

And frankly, it surprises me that they would be that lenient about camshaft profiles? Of course, drawing and enforcing a line for something which varied considerably through the years like cam profiles would be very difficult.

Steve,

To answer your question all Model T Fords and any other vehicle will do 1,320 feet in a quarter mile!!! :-)

Depends on which body it has. The Roadsters would be fastest with the sedans being slowest.

Montana 500 cars are strictly limited as to what modifications are allowed. (See website, rules)

The Montana 500 being a road race, I'd think most cars would be set up for good higher speed performance and reliability in the 30 to 60 MPH range rather than for short run / standing start performance.

Didn’t Hank have a T that will do 90?

I've known more than one T with bad radiators - what they would do in the quarter mile is overheat.

This was never a "stock Model T" thing. Any T, stock or modified, is welcome to log a time. The Registry has fields to differentiate to some degree. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Even the year of the car makes a difference. About the time of the first world war, the compression ratio was lowered so those before that time were just a bit faster than those afterward.

Thanks Norm. I'll use that for another excuse why I am so slow ;)

I did read the title posted as "STOCK" Model T's... which brings to mind the cars that run the 500, What would they record in the Quarter?
Most all the Montana 500 race cars have the best finely tuned and mechanically adjusted T's by some of the highest technically advanced Model T mechanics any where!!
Yes, there are considerations of top end speed but I bet a top performing 500 car would show some pretty darn good results in this 1/4 mile? Having competed several times myself I know the cars are very good runners when back home and out on tours.

Can't wait to see some Montana 500 cars post a quarter mile time in the Registry!

Reminder that the Model T Quarter Mile Drag Racing Registry is available, and anyone can log a quarter mile time. It will be fun to have more participants! Any T is eligible.

I wanted to watch the video, but I wasn't 26 minutes worth of interested. Why should it take nearly a half-hour to show a Model T run a quarter mile? My T is slow, but not that slow.

Something to shoot for ?

In 2005, a Quarter Horse gelding named “A Long Goodbye” clocked 55mph in the quarter mile with a time of :20.686 seconds

“The horse is finished.” - Henry Ford

. . . maybe not ?
