26/27 steering column rod spacer location

Trying to put together a Depot Hack that came to me as a project. Cleaning up the steering column and have a question concerning the correct location of the "spacer" that slips over the steering shaft and the two control rods and keeps them apart. A metal plate with the three holes in it for this task.
On my 15, it is located between the two locations for the arm connectors, one for throttle and one for timing. Seems like a good location to relieve any stress caused by the transference of force. On the Depot Hack, it was just stuck on the bottom before everything connects to the steering box. On other photos, it looks like it is all the way up by the two springs just after the firewall plate.

So, where should this spacer plate be located? Or, should there be more than one per column?

I'll hang up and listen

My 26 column spacer plate is just above the throttle arm.

Correct spot, just above the throttle lever on the throttle rod as Jeff posted.

Try as you like to place it higher, but that little guy will wiggle down against the lever anyway. Sketch shows it against the lever. ;)

Drats, I was hoping not to have to remove both rod arms, but it is what it is.
Thanks for the replies.
