Sometimes the best part of an old movie is the old car parts that creep into them. At lower left is a 4-dip pan. Perhaps a mag ring or coil tester is left of it. The movie was "They Live by Night". Rich, this is a fun topic ! I'm pretty sure one has to be looking at movies from the '50s and earlier to see Model Ts or parts of them "in their 'natural' state" so to speak.

One that always stuck with me is from "Lonely Are The Brave". Kirk Douglas' character rides into a town from off the Nevada range, and encounters a busy highway. Right across the road is a wrecking yard with a pretty decent Model T (doubtless still driving) easily seen for a few moments. If you've seen that flick, doubtless you, too, will remember the T !

So I am not the only one that see that stuff. Was watching a movie on TCM other day about two women running a station/store/hotel in desert. One worked in the garage, other ran store. In garage hanging on wall was mag coil. My wife said “only you”. Glad to see she is wrong.

Rich, I enjoyed that movie but missed the Model T. I found it here. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm sure there are many out there.

Dan, That movie you watched is The Petrified Forest, (1936) Leslie Howard, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart. Edit: Heat Lightning.

Movies from the late '20's to well in the '30's often show a well used "T" or "A" and sometimes one will spot parts in a scene or two. My favorite era of "old car movies."

No that had Betty Davis eyes in it. And a man that England let the Nazi kill to kept a war secret.
This movie had none of those in it. I don’t know the name cause all I saw was the mag coil.

Heat Lighting, 1934.

Not a movie per se, but a recent episode of Expedition Unknown, with Josh Gates, (my wife's secret crush), featured the hunt for Jesse James' hideout encampment. They decided on a likely spot and went to work with metal detectors and shovels. After 2 minutes of digging, they came up with what was described as part of a cook stove, probably used by the James gang. It was the side of a Model T hood! I laughed myself silly, (or perhaps sillier).

There is a 1932 Film starring Cary Grant called "Hot Saturday" which features a really nicely built late 1924-'25 tall-rad Roadster decked out with 21" Buffalos, full chrome or nickel plated hood, chopped and hinged windshield, cull plated dash and a number of other mods. Here are some screen grabs:

















The car has never been positively ID's, but i feel strongly, its this car, built by Lou Sentar in the 1930s. Its seen here in the late 1930s sporting a few changes. The chome tire cover, The Radiator stone guard (though modified), the headlights and the plated Franklin axle are tell-tale giveaways..

Jerry, I saw the same thing. And I'm proud to say my son also saw the show and said "that's a Model T hood not a dang stove". My 15 year old grandson even knew it was a pre 1926 hood.

Oops Dan, You are right. yes, Heat Lightning. Both take place in the desert. I have seen both. Just got them mixed up.

I spotted a Model T rear fender leaning against the back wall.

Just watched Lonely Are the Brave (1962) a couple weeks ago, didn't miss the T. One of my favorite Kirk Douglas movies, and his personal favorite.

Wings (1927) has a nice speedster called The Shooting Star.
