I'm restoring a 1926 Roadster Pickup. I'm working on the bed of the truck and building the wooden floor. There is a cover plate that covers the rear cross member. My question is will one from a Model A work? If not, and I need to make one, what are the dimensions?

Another question - do the metal strips in the bed run over the cross member cover or stop at the cover? I've seen photos of it both ways - which is correct?

These pics may help you. The bed boards are held by curved sides of the bed, at the front and rear crossmembers, and by those metal strips that are anchored in saw kerfs of each side of each board. Special wide square toothed washers underside on the carriage head bolts.

The hump plate allows clearance of the rear crossmember, reproduction are made. The hump plate is riveted to the long metal strips.
