We are looking forward to better touring weather like this. Maybe it's too soon to think about.

Not too soon at all.
When it's freezing out I remember those summer after-dinner country drives and look forward to the return of friendly weather.

Weather is a state of mind to a degree. January thaw now feels like a heat wave compared to two weeks ago. I’d get Lizzie out for a spin, but recent weather deposited a four foot drift up against the shop door and I’m too lazy to shovel out - so I guess I’ll just dream of summertime with the rest of you !

Thanks to Paul and Eric for their family's 19 Center Door, and Ray for the 23 Tourer. They were topped off with my 24 Morris (a hot summer day but side curtains a 'must' to "protect the hair" .

Re: Foto of the Day
Some cool cars. What a great occasion to use them.
Our four foot drift has shrunk a little with the warmer days but still is more than I want to shovel. The Tudor would be nice for the Grand-kid visits. What a luxury to have an outdoor car. I can park the Coupe in the low spots.

The Anchorage, Alaska photo is on a East-West street facing the mountains to the East in the early afternoon. Cannot locate the buildings downtown, guessing 4th Street.

Love the wavy reflections around the script Ford at the top of the radiator and how the headlamp reflected in the side of the brass radiator has sharper focus than the actual lamp.

It is easy to get lost in the colors and shapes in brass and nickle, let alone chrome.

Re: Foto of the Day
Maybe this photo should be on the "Memories" thread. It was 1985 and I had just finished my 1915 Runabout for the HCCA Tour in McCall, ID. Joy took this photo of her Sister Kerry, Oliver, Sally and me. The stuffed eagle and my 16mm camera were our comfort toys. We had just finished a crash 12 month restoration to make it on the tour. I had been gathering parts for 12 years. Rich Bingham who contributes to the forum had helped haul the original basket case home from Montana in the 70s. This was my first Brass 'T' and a great step forward for me. Kerry and Joy took turns riding with the two kids in the Runabout. It was a little tight. Oliver gave up the plastic mustache for real whiskers some time ago. Finding these things in the old photo album is very rewarding these days.

This is from a steam show at Five Points (Perrysburg) Ohio about 8 years ago. The truck and thresher belonged to one friend and the Case L belonged to another. We threshed a whole wagon load in about 10-12 minutes. It was a lot of fun. But I'm glad we were just doing it for fun.
My other car is an Amish Drag Buggy.

We took a break from the snow to attend a VMCCA meeting in Las Vegas. Our chauffeur to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area drove a 1954 Packard Caribbean. What a ride?
We were also treated to Richie Clyne's auto collection. More than a dozen firetrucks and some Dusenbergs are on display there at the present.

Re: Foto of the Day
Part of my affection for the Rusty Coupe is the dry mat finish of the 98 year old metal. It was a treat today to notice the nice, reflective gloss that the sleet has given it this morning. I can imagine how new paint might look but the dents and wrinkles aren't ready for that yet.

This is the other front wheel. It has somewhat survived the gobby welds and bright paint. The pink was probably a red that fadded. I have only seen one Pink model T. It was scary fast! Either the contrasts in colors or the sunshine made me feel better.

Here’s a photo of our ’25 coupé. It’s just an honest old T Model. The photo was taken last October on the road back to our house. I love the sepia tone as it imparts a flavor of the old to the new.

Re: Foto of the Day
We don't often get a chance to share some time and the cars with young folks like this. Yet they do get caught up in the whole idea of visiting the old days. They are usually both interested and interesting. It's always a treat to get to know them more that we do in passing them on the street or in the Mall.

Some of my favorite colors again. This was a pair of carbide lights, forks and connecting arm for my '23 Bus. I had looked long and hard for them and found them in Loveland, CO. They cleaned up nicely.

Re: Foto of the Day
It doesn't take much to amuse me. My air nozzle blew these two items out from between the crankcase and arm yesterday. Though I believe I have used this crankcase on various vehicles since 1970 I don't think I placed them there. I have lost coil box screws before but not while in the car. The insulator piece suggests a horrible accident. That is a location where things often hide. The monotony of cleaning leads my imagination to stories of what leads to these things. These may have been caked in hardened grease for years before fresh, leaking oil soften it enough for these to reemerge.

Re: Foto of the Day
I do like that Billy. Quick fixes can be very charming. I worked with an engineer whose lost a screw to his glasses hinge and the side arm fell off. His fix was suspending that side from a rubber band attached to a carefully placed band-aid on his forehead. He walked around like that all day.
Thanks for the photo.

Hey Rich... That is (or was... no, still is) one sharp speedster body... really like those lines, from the overshot tail to the sweeping cockpit cutouts... wonder what ever happened to it, hopefully someone grabbed and restored it, and it didn't end up in that great smelting furnace in the sky...Rich Eagle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 9:11 pmThat's a great effect John.

Re: Foto of the Day
I'm not sure why I save these things but it does take gas to get to the dump.
The other day I dragged out my windshield junk bucket to answer a clamp screw question. Then I spent the day heating and soaking screws trying to retrieve them from the filler blocks. None of this has any value but is still fun to look at and have around for some of us.
I don't even know why I saved the bucket. When did I do that?

Re: Foto of the Day
I liked that MUCH more than the current "Find the M in the W's" thing going around... (And yes, I found it after enlarging the picture - and spending 10 minutes!) At least it hadn't worked its way between the rocks... yet...
THIS was one of the reasons I decided to put wood between the pea gravel and the car. Of course, now there's a nice bouncy surface to launch stuff across the parking area, under the snowblower, and into the woodpile...
Worse yet are the little brass screws - at least the steel ones can be retrieved (usually) with a magnet...
