This is a recipe my wife found in a cookbook left to her by my mother. Hope you enjoy like we did.

Ingredients One Elephant Salt and Pepper Brown Gravy Two Rabbits (optional)

Cut elephant into bite size pieces. This should take about 2 months. Cover with brown gravy. Cook over kerosene fire about four weeks at 365 degrees. This will serve 3800 people. If more are expected, two rabbits may be added, but do this only if necessary as most people do not like to find hare in their stew.

I worked at a factory in China 20 years ago for a winter. Each day, two medium sized hogs would arrive on the backs of motorcycles. Then, the cooks spent all morning preparing lunch. The 3000 workers got two meals a day. Noontime and six PM. Between the massive drum of white rice, some boiled vegetables, and a small ration of pork, those two pigs fed 3000 people. The workers lined up with stainless trays and a bowl, and got a ladle of pork slop on top of the rice. They did not throw anything away, not even the tail. Did not see any fat people around that factory .

Steve,
The funny thing is, as I was reading that I thought to myself, that sounds like one of Mr. Thum's jokes! I guess I've known you for a little while, huh?

Reading this forum takes me longer than necessary every morning because I copy some posts and email them to friends who don't visit the forum. I just sent "Elephant Stew." :D

Thanks, Steven.

Dean, the duck volunteered, I heard him say "Just put it on my bill." - but he may have put Hank's foot in his mouth ?
