Clincher Tire Change Look What I Found

I recently removed some old Wards Riverside clincher tires from the rim and was surprised to find an old inner tube used as a rim liner. A grey rubber 30x3.5 tube cut into a strip and glued to the rim with rubber cement. Tire came off OK without having to cut it off. The Wards Riverside tubes were still good, had been holding air and have no patches, folds, or soft spots, so I plan to reuse them with my new tires. I am not pro or con rim liners for clinchers, just sharing what I found.

I have been using plumbers pipe wrap tape. Its 2" wide, sticks well and doesn't deteriorate over time. Brand name "Pro-Pak".

Yes, the 4 mil pipe wrap works well for rim liners. Never use duct tape, as it will degrade over time.
