As requested, pics of safety device. Not patented, feel free to copy but ,please, no varnished mahogany and polished brass trim, this is shade-tree engineering for a T, just scrap wood and mismatched nails

Thanks for posting this. That's a great gizmo! I can also see that it would be very useful when teaching someone to drive a T, it would keep it out of high until they are more familiar with the controls.

The T I have been working on for a few years is about ready to hit the road. I had great concerns about it winding up in high, and taking off on us, since the man who owns it, and also myself, have very minimal experience with T's. I will be making one of these up and putting it in place before we try and drive the car. (I will be using it on my 14 as well, as it is also about ready for the road.)

Honestly, having a good ratchet and pawl eliminates the need for the block. Nothing wrong with "belt & suspenders" however.

When a movie Company used my 14 roadster for a few scenes in Metamora, Indiana, I made a similar piece to keep the actor from going into high gear when he had to drive the car a short distance. Unfortunately, the movie never made it into production.

The only other thing I did was taper the end, so it worked as a wheel chock as well.

I made something like that years ago for parades and newbie driving lessons.
I attached a cord to it so I could disable the safety (pull it out) if needed.
