I’ve restored probably a couple hundred coils and have never seen these before. One is marked Kingston with SPECIAL stamped in the end. The other is marked Detroit Coil Co.

What does the top of the Kingston look like and does it have a regular contact pattern like a t or is it different?

Maybe the coil marked "special" is Kingston's version of a Model T tractor coil.

Odd? yes, but not uncommmon.
After rebuilding over 24,000 Model T coils I've seen quite a few differentr companies who marketed (and marked with their logo) ignition coils for Model T's
Kingston
Kokomo Electric (only)
Kingston/Kokomo Electric (combind)
Shur Hit
Detroit Coil
Varley Coil
K W Ignition (ink stenciled with and without date code (Circa 1940-1976)
Chicago Electric
Just to name the more commonly seen ones.
