What is the difference between the Model F and,the Model NH carbs. Ive been running this Model F on my '23 for about 20 years thinking it was an NH. I know the bowls are different with the drains in different locations.

There are no differences of any note, between a Ford carb and the equivalent vintage Holley NH.

The difference between the center drain and the side drain carbs are incorporated in the casting of the central boss in the housing. It either has a slot on the bottom or it doesn't. The casting with the slot on the bottom can be turned into a side or center drain version. The casting without a slot cannot be used for a center drain as the bowl will not fully drain (the drain hole is in the side of the casting near the bottom, but not ON the bottom)

I had the very same Ford model F carburetor on my ‘23 runabout when I bought it. I believe the story goes that Ford got into making these to keep up with demand during that period. Very much like an NH.

It is exactly like an NH, except it has the early style bowl used on the straight thru's.

Thanks for the replies. The F was in need of a rebuild so we just ran over to Eklers and picked up an NH kit.

If you replace the needle valve be aware that most of the new ones have a rough surface that will make them leak. Smooth before using. I believe Scott conger is making correct ones.
