🛞🛞🛞🛞 UPDATE ON Steve Jelf 🛞🛞🛞🛞

Sorry I've been missing in action with this vertigo for 3 weeks, but it's all sorted out now and I'm fine.

Spoke with Steve on the phone just now and his voice sounds very strong. However, he mentioned some things that gave me the impression that there are still some wires crossed "up there" in which I did my best to line him out and alleviate his worries.

I explained to him that during the recovery time from a brain injury, the mind can tell one some pretty tall tales and the best thing one can do is talk to someone about them.

I suspect, with a highly intellectual mind like Steve's, just sitting around and "thinking" a LOT can take a person into many Rabbit Holes. He agreed that he'll talk to a doc about this.

I feel that I'll need to get back into the habit of calling him daily (hopefully) so that I can re-Mind him of his most important objectives - like getting stronger and doing things to re-map his brain as it heals - and not dwell on thoughts that plague him.

Steve's still just cruising in his wheelchair at this time and only walking when in PT with safety apparatus. He enjoys watching other patients doing their PT and cheers them on.

All in all, a pretty good chat. Please keep wishing him well. ❤

Thanks Mark for the update. I also got a call from Steve today. He sounded strong and we had a few laughs. He was in a very good mood and we talked a while about his progress and he is ready to get out of there. We joked about adding another story on the farm house after living in the Chicago skyline for a while. He said Shorty wont go for a ride with his present caretaker and refuses to leave the farm. Waiting for Steve to come home. All and all it was a good visit. I told him to work on useing that tablet because alot of people wanted to hear from the man himself, Mr. Jelf.

Good to hear! Thanks Mark and Dallas and all (Especially Selah W) that keep cheering Steve onward and sending him prayers

And to Selah wherever you are, I am pleased you are doing better with the vertigo. Unless someone has dealt with that, it is hard to understand just how serious it can be. There is a hearing defect that runs in my wife's family that in a few members also results in vertigo. She has had a few nasty bouts with it! Bad events of vertigo are something most people simply cannot imagine, and they can last for days, or weeks. In rare cases, it can be a lifelong battle.

Glad to read that Steve is doing better.
His dog is apparently a very loyal companion.
Yes to everything you folks are saying about helping Steve recover by simply talking to him about things he knows or knew well. I am a brain injury survivor myself and those very things are what kept me going and helped me get back to somewhat normal.you have to understand,Steve may not be exactly the same even when deemed "recovered" Taste, smells, even what he can and can't do with his hands may change. But once he gets closer to home, put some tools near him,or a simple mechanical puzzle, like "why does this not work?" and talk about it.That very thing helped me recover my mechanical ability's faster than any therapy they gave me at a medical facility. 2 friends did that very thing, put me near something broke and we talked about it,and i was able to think, reason and most of the time after some mistakes I would get it.Simple stuff like which way to tighten a bolt, yep, First engine I worked on, a 7 hp briggs,i broke 2 bolts off in the block before i realized, hey I am doing something wrong.
Selah, Has your Dr suggested this?

It aint no fun to do but it did help some if what it addresses is the cause.
I have had ear ringing since I was I know 5 years old, they are ringing loud right now.
I had vertigo alot after my wreck and it hits me sometimes after I do something that puts my neck in a bind.
