I do not have any brakes when using the floor pedal. When I use the handbrake and pull it all the way back it does stop, but barely. Where do I adjust the floor pedal? Is it under the cover on the transmission, which is under the wooden floorboard?

You MUST purchase the Ford Service manual from a supplier...P/N T-1. I say this because it is one of the most basic of all jobs that a T owner will do, and yet is fraught with hazards, associated with dropping ANYTHING into the transmission. It's good that you asked, but is an indicator that you can and likely will get into deep trouble quickly, if you do not understand the basics of your car...the Service Manual will answer many questions and save heartache.

My guess is that you will undertake this adjustment prior to buying the book, so for your sake, once you remove the car key from the switch and clean the area out of anything that could drop into the transmission, the door is open, take a clear picture of the bands and post on-line so that other readers may see your bands. With no brakes, you may be into replacing bands and not just an adjustment. Pictures are worth 1000 words.

The foot brake stops the car by tightening a single band around a drum on the output shaft of the transmission. It is adjusted by turning the nut on the shaft closest to the rear of the under the transmission cover door. Tighten the nut just enough that the pedal will stop firmly about an inch above the floor. If there is no adjustment left, you will need to reline your bands. The hand brake is adjusted by turning the clevises on the brake rods.

Thanks for the input. I will take a picture first, and also get a Service Manual. I will post the pics for everyone so I can learn. I have already changed the wiring harness that my grandfather had purchased before he passed away. I replaced the carb and a few other little things. Just some FYI, my great-great grandfather purchased the car new in '27, gave it to my grandfather, and now it is mine.

Good advice given, pretty simple job, as long as you don't have dropsies.
A lot can be seen through the cover, so pics are good. A couple of the car would be super also.

Im no expert but it looks like new band lunings are needed. Other more experienced folks will chime in. Good on you for asking 1st.

Unfortunately, your linings have seen better days, especially low band AND whomever did the last relining installed the detachable ears on the incorrect side - they should be on the driver's side.

The brake drum looks rather rusty also...

New lining would not hurt! BUT the bands are installed the wrong way. They need to be turned around. Also, might be the light but the safety wire looks to be copper and too thin, is needs to be a larger diameter and stainless or iron type. While the bands are out would be good time to check for cracks. That brake drum looks kinda rusty. One way or the other that rust is going to get polished off and end up in the oil. Might as well clean it up now, that way you can wipe as you clean and keep most of it out of the oil. A non metal scouring/sanding pad should work.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have ordered a Service Manual and will study it when it comes in. I also noticed that the bar that runs the width of the car underneath that is attached to the handbrake has two "O" shaped linkages at either end. I am sure there is supposed to be some hardware that runs to both rear wheels to engage when the handbrake it pulled all the way back. There is nothing attached to the "O" shaped linages, currently.
