'27 floorboard question

I am working on my '27 Tudor. On the floorboard support angling up at the front, my car has a brass colored rivet on the metal support on each side. Any Idea what this would have been used for?

My '26 Runabout does not have rivets there or holes for them.

Open cars didn't have carpet.

Only thing on the rivet is if 'colored' like brass, may have been brazed at the factory, lots of brazing was done to secure things.
Check it with a magnet to test for steel.
Only enclosed cars got carpet as standard. Front carpet has snap fasteners to keep it down. The tabs on the side of the riser hold the kick panel in place, the rectangular pivoting plate holds down the floorboards.
But you could get rubber mat for closed cars for a while!

After installing all the floorboards use a screwdriver or pliers to turn that riveted piece of short metal horizontal. That was put in to hold the floorboards in place, helpful on washboard roads.

Could that be the female half of a snap, installed by a past owner? The male half would have been installed on the floor covering and snapped down onto the female half to prevent the floor covering from blowing out. My 1926 coupe has snaps for holding the carpet in place. Jim Patrick
Upper photo is the male half. Lower photo is the female half.

My unrestored '26 coupe has those identical factory installed features, and of course, would have had the carpet too, thanks for bringing this information to the forum. jb
