Pedal clamp

It isn't often we have to pull the hogshead, most owners dread it. One of the difficulties is having pedals flopping all around while you're trying to wrestle the cover into place. I saw this suggestion for a clamp to hold pedals firm against the ramps several years ago. On my current overhaul I've had plenty of time, so I made this one, and was surprised how easy it was to make. Well worth the time invested !

Looks like a good idea. On the left hand drive cars like we use in U.S.A. I remove the brake and reverse pedals and the spring from the low pedal. That leaves only one pedal of concern and also the clutch mechanism.

With that tool, the internal adjusting washers/nuts/springs could be fitted to the shafts before fitting the cover. Then you have no chance of dropping stuff into the abyss. great idea.

On our RHD cars there is only one internal adjuster, on the first gear band. When I fit the cover, the band ears are wired to the gap available to accept the pedal spring. This is also done on the first gear pedal, with the nut, wsher and spring already in place.

Nice work!

Here is a period version that came with the band spring compressor tool. When used together they make hogshead installation a lot easier. I just wish I could find one for a ‘26-‘27 style hogshead.
