Does anyone know the development in history of the Anderson timer?

Frank Fenton started rebuilding and making them several years ago. I remember seeing him at Chickasha years ago and buying one from him. I still,have it on my 24 Coupe but have New Days on my other two T’s. He had a neat demo board set up to show how they worked.
A real nice guy to meet and talk to. I think he sold his business later on.

I remember having an issue with the back of the flapper catching on the contacts. Yes the timing cover was centered and I simply removed the flapper and used a bench grinder to slightly grind off the back of it. Problem solved. A few others had the same issue. You can do a forum search and find posts about it.

Do the New Day timers need a slight lube? I have seen lots of them with tracks.

The "trick" on Andersons is to retard the spark prior to shutting down - keeps the flapper from hanging up.

No lube on a New Day.

I remember reading to retard the spark when shutting down here on the forum. But after I read it I had already removed just a bit on the back of the flapper. That did the trick.
The timer worked fine BEFORE I slightly ground off the flapper back a little when I noticed at times the spark lever would kind of jump down about 3 notches after shutdown and then I couldn’t fully retard it. I checked and rechecked and made sure the gear cover was centered. Anyway maybe I overlooked something. Some times you just have to scratch your head and forget about it!
