What car is this??

Hi all,
Every year the local Northport, N.Y. Chamber of Commerce prints and sends out an annual calendar with vintage photos from the 1800's to the 1970's. This year the February calendar had this photo which is captioned: "A car parked in front of a house up on a hill with a woman on the porch in Northport - 1910 (location unknown)". Wow. My data deprivation got the best of me so I'm curious about the car (as well as the location). I looked up info on early Fords and THINK it's a 1908 Model S. Can anyone confirm? Thanks. I live in Northport and will have a bit of searching to see about the location. Thanks. BTW this photo is the worst of all the vintage photos I've seen from the calendars over the years. Attached is the photo.

Love the car and really love the old house! Imagine how exciting that had to be for them back then with that car.

Nice photo. A little more clarification may (or may not be helpful). The Model S Runabout was sold 1907 & 1908 and the Model S Roadster was sold in 1908 with 3 or so sold in 1909.

The photo clearly shows the front fenders have fender skirts, the running board is the short style (similar in size to the 1911 Torpedo roadster), and the car has the Mother-in-Law rear seat. All of that points to a 1908 Model S Roadster. Note the Roadster also has a curved metal cowl, but in that photo it hard for me to tell for sure if that is there.

If anyone wants a copy of the article "How to ID a 1906-1908 Model N, R, S, or SR Ford just let me know.

Illustration is from a 1908 Ford parts/manual cover.

There is a very good article in the latest AACA magazine on N R S. It is about four pages, and very well done.

Larry,

Thank you for the heads up. Some of us are always looking for information on those cars. I'm sure some of it will have been published before. But you never know when something you haven't read or a photo you haven't seen before will be found.
