Coil Box Security Strap

I am rebuilding my coil box and purchased a security strap. How do I secure it to the box? There is not a hole in the firewall for it to extend through.
Based on the diagrams it shows a screw or something like that attaching to the end. That did not come with the strap.
Thanks,
Ernie

One end of that strap goes through the front of your coilbox and the other end goes through your wooden back panel. When in place, you bend the forked end, with one side of the fork going to the left, and the other side to the right. What you're showing in your photo seems to suggest that the other end is not inserted into the front of the coilbox, since it's sticking out way too far. Try posting a photo showing the whole coilbox and how you're positioning the strap.

Look at some of the pics in this thread https://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/44823.html

Thank You Jerry,
The photo's help. I don't have a picture of the front of my box but based on the photo you posted in the link my strap is inserted in the front just like the picture. My strap is just too long so I will have to cut it back a little.
Thanks again!

Before resizing your strap, insert a couple of coils in the box and adjust your strap length such that the coils are held in place with little to no wiggle room. This strap is intended to keep the front of the box from bowing outwards and allowing the coil contacts to fall away from the contact strips.

I believe the purpose of the strap is more to keep some pressure on the coils to insure they make good electrical contact. When the contacts become sprung a little folks resort to slipping business cards and the like between the box and the coils to keep the pressure on. The strap is supposed reduce the need for that.

Has the other end of your strap been bent to form a T? That may account for the extra length.
