Loose timer control lever

The timer control lever is loose on the end of the rod. It moves back and forth a little so either the rivet is worn, the hole in the lever or the hole thru the rod. I am not sure of the diameter of the pin or the holes. If the hole in the rod is worn I was thinking about inlargeing it to a size a spring roll pin would secure it. What have others done?

I have chosen to ignore play with that little arm more than once. If you have ever fought to get one of those off at any time, you might do the same. The play is of little consequence as long as you can still get the range of timing adjustment at the lever.

I slightly enlarged mine, threaded it and put in the smallest filster head screw I could find and put it on with some locktite.

Snyder's sells a replacement lever arm and the pin to hold it in place for a very reasonable price. I replaced the worn out arms on both of our T's and it is nice to have that extra slop removed. Here's a link to the arm in their catalog

FWIW, the pin diameter is 3/32".

Try removing the arm, or at least the pin, and test/inspect the holes in the arm and rod with a shank end of a 3/32" drill bit. Check for looseness. Maybe all you need is a new pin. I'm not a huge fan of split pins in a T, but this location would probably be okay and would make up for any wear in the holes. Or... just go with the Snyder's fix mentioned above.

I put "Rod Ends" on my timer and throttle.
I don't have any play in either one now.

I don't recognize any of those rod ends. I have originals on both my cars, which are 1913's.

These are non-stock additions I made to my '16 T.
