Brass radiator serial # tag..

.still in the process of going thru the mechanicals on the '14 on the way to first crank...
But saw something interesting on the back of the brass radiator upper tank.
I have seen brass rad serial tags, but, hadn't seen one like this before. Also looks like a sloppy braze job, but what do I know, fast wasn't always pretty.....
Or...
Possibly older tag reapplied to replacement radiator?
The number is 58,000 higher than my body tag # (but I do know the rad #'s were typically higher & not correlated)
Just another curiosity....
Question being....can anyone elaborate/posulate?

Kurt,
Unlike cars before early 1911, the numbers on patent plate tags on later cars have nothing to do with engine serial numbers. Radiator serial numbers on the other hand never had any correlation to engine serial numbers.
That tag and attachment quality looks be correct for a 1914 car. Does the radiator have a cross-over tube with a T and holes in the side panels for the acetylene lighting rubber hose? If you were to ever replace the radiator with a new Brassworks radiator, I would take the tag off and have then put it on the replacement. (btw, I LOVE my Brassworks flat tube radiator on my 1911.)
: ^ )

Thanks Keith.
Ya, I knew there was no correlation, just like there's none between my body tag & engine.
I just hadn't seen a tag like that, all other brass rad tags I've seen looked different. So, thanks for the confirmation.
Yes, my rad is (supposedly) original to the car, has the hose holes, and shows many signs of prior repairs...yet...still holds water.

RV Anderson made some reproductions and stamped them with whatever number you wanted. The tags that came on the Brass works radiator are nothing like the originals.
RV was a stickler for details…

Interesting...
Tags I had seen in the past were more deeply embossed, with a different design/format, not filled background with black paint and with punched numbers, vs what appears to be printed.
While mine certainly appeared original to me, it was different than what I've seen on other brass rad cars in the past....causing my confusion...
Thanks everyone for chiming in!!!
