As part of an rebuild, I'm replacing my pedal shafts that are scored and worn down. If I'm replacing the pedal cams/supports and notches too, do I get standard sized shafts or do I buy oversized shafts and ream everything out to an oversized shaft size?

Check the clearance and if not within specs, bush or go oversize based on your measurements. Something to consider, If or when you ream, the ream will follow the hole.
So unless you have the ability & fixtures to achieve the desired position you might consider having a machinist to complete the job. Best John

Thanks John - I should have everything necessary to ream everything myself, just want to make sure I don't do any unnecessary work

Probably common knowledge, but when you replace the shafts don't forget the o-rings that mount against the hogshead, I did and it ain't a big deal but my pedals do leak some.

Thanks Tad - I've owned the o-rings for a few months now and have been waiting on the rebuild after seeing how scored the pedal shafts were

I may be disremembering but at some time wasn’t someone making adjustable pedal shafts that could be adjusted on the outside of the hogshead? Best John

True. Chaffins sells the good ones.

Otis Clinton from Federal Way, WA was the supplier of those accessory adjusters many years ago - I still have some of them.

I got Chaffin’s adjusters and they are just oversized enough I didn’t have to ream the hogshead. I used an over sized low shaft and you really only have to touch it unless your bore is really bad and you might have to bush the hogshead.

Glad you noticed. Ford reamed the hole .625 & made the shafts under for clearance.
The adjuster "tubes" are .625. So the wear in the holes appears lesser. I.E the adjusters are slightly oversize.

Those adjuster shafts are such a simple, but great idea! Any knowledge if they interfere with the aftermarket brake levers?

I dont understand your question. As long as the pedal has cams, they work.
I use a 25-27 bendix mount brake lite switch. Works fine.
The extra protrusion doesnt effect the switch function.

What is an aftermarket brake lever?

For accessory / aux brake systems like this:

They will work on this pedal. You may have to shorten the 5/8 tube to retain the O-ring seal in the pedal.
Follow the instructions. Remember, if your pedal no longer leaks a bit, you will need to manually oil the cams

If you use .005 OS shafts, turn down the length of shaft going through the pedal to stock or you will make the pedal OS forever. And you will see useable pedals increasingly in demand.
