Hhowdy, Can anyone tell me if a early (up to 21) lower steering column to frame mnt is the same as the later with the exception of the number and size of the bushings. It seems like my 26 roadster is always in need of that bushing replacement and I am thinking that maybe the earlier mount with twice as much bushing surface would last longer, any thoughts? Nope… sorry to say…. The ‘New and Improved’ steering column to frame bracket is different than earlier brackets because it has a different angle for the steering shaft.

Use a correct solid bronze bushing. Do not use a sintered bushing some vendors sell.
Fit correctly, you wont need to replace it again.

I agree. The factory bushing lasted 95 years in my T.

George, Thanks, that is what i figured. John and John, that sounds like good advice, now how do I tell the difference so that I can get the good one?

The one Langs shows looks like the sintered bronze. No good if that's the case.
Solid bronze is available from Mc Master-carr.
Solid bronze looks like brass/gold. Sintered looks more bronze with dark speckles. Looks porous.
Compare the looks of the brass spindle bushing.
