I was reading an article on Modeltfordfix.com today and it recommended using Mobil 28 grease for the timer. Has anyone ever use this stuff? eBay terms that as aircraft Grease. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I have a tube of the stuff coming in and plan to use it on an early '11 timer. Of course cannot tell you how it works, but I trust the author that you read the info from...that is why I am using it, too.

You can't get grease through the oil hole. Stick with oil.

What are the properties of Mobil 28 or aircraft grease?
For some OT pieces here, I need to stop in and get a tube of John Deere corn head grease and am thinking about it for the timer.
Corn head is a grease that softens as it warms and flows near like oil then turns back into grease when cool.
I have a water pump and a small shaft housing on an engine that could use it. Some crawler owners use it in the track rollers.

I’ve been following RP advice for greasing a timer for maybe 5 seasons now? What I found is that it takes a couple of spins after sitting a spell, possibly to push grease out of the way? In discussion with RP he said he felt I was unique.
I have no difficulty, don’t open it, don’t worry about it. It’s an experiment for me...when it dies, I carry a spare...
FWIW...it was a brand new old stock Tiger,

Ought and naught greases. 0 and ... I looked a bit Ted.

Good point.
Hah! Back in the old days would they have called it a soft grease? Probably. Very cool.

Sounds like another good timer lube. Nothing new under the sun as they say. Variations with light grease work pretty well since it just doesn’t run out as easy. To each his own in this area.
