I recently acquired a pickup bed that has the rear stake pocket closer to the tailgate.
Did they start doing that late 26 or was that only started in 27.
Any info would be appreciated.

In the cd version of the Encyclopedia page 601 re. stake pockets-"later versions moved the front ones back, perhaps to clear the top when it was down." Did a quick skim in the 26-7 documentation section and couldn't find a specific date there either regarding the move of the stake pockets. Perhaps others have more info.

I recall seeing something somewhere that stated they moved the front pockets backwards a bit, as originally they were at the very front of the bed but it caused interference with folding the top down? Vague recollection, sorry that’s all I have.

I meant to refer to the front ones not the ones near the tailgate.

Well just for the heck of it I asked AI the question,

As long as we are discussing these beds I have looked thru a lot of former posts and can't find an answer to my question which is, What style of bolts do I use to mount it both to the frame and to the fenders? The existing holes are round so I don't think they are a carriage style of bolt, I'm thinking maybe some square head bolts would look more period correct than hex. Sorry if this is a hijack. Jim
Doing my fit up and repairs before paint.

The bed to body subframe bolts are hex head, fine thread.
