..It is time to start thinking about this years swapmeet schedule ... the Duncan,Ok. swapmeet in March is likely to be the new Chickasha meet ...it is a general automotive meet with a special section setup for pre 1949 automotive spaces ... this is a modern facility like the Grady county fairgrounds that was used at Chickasha ... there will be both indoor and outside spaces for the early vendors , the high school band will provide food vendor service , this is a clean modern site with an existing general swapmeet and will not be a 1 day event ... i have spoken with swapmeet chairman Kevin Hammock several times and have sent out approx. 150 swapmeet flyers to my customers ... there is a strong interest with regional as well as several of the national parts suppliers ... i am looking forward to this meet and i am planning on bringing a variety of parts in addition to my babbitt bearing tooling including Atwater-Kent , Delco and Bosch distributors , several doors , possibly a wire wheel chassis , and possibly a short block T engine ... hope to see you there ...Gene French

We are planning on being there. Will have a good selection of stuff. Let's try to give the new venue a good start. From what I've seen, it may be a better venue.

I'm planning on going to the swap meet. I hope it will be like Chickasha was when I first went there 14 years ago.

I am posting the link for the Duncan swap meet ... check this out ... this meet is an established swap meet that is adding a "pre 1949 section " ... there has been a lot of discussion regarding the feasibility of pre-war meets and the limited interest and parts available ... by expanding to include somewhat later models it is hoped to provide the extra vendor and buyer traffic to make a early section viable ...there is a high level of interest that is expressed so far ... hope to see a good turnout of vendors and buyers ...Gene French

Looking forward to Duncan for sure. I have some nice or otherwise rare early T items that will be coming for sure. I have a very nice 1911 only Kingston 5 Ball carb that Russ Potter found and restored for me about 5 years ago that will be coming. See you there! Mike

I’m indoor next to Gene and John T. Just mention ‘Pre War’ indoor but I don’t think they’re that large.

I have been told that 500 vendor spaces have been sold inside and out but there are plenty more available.
With former Chickasha vendors attending the new Pre-War section, this should be a great swap meet. The good thing about the Chickasha Swap Meet was its central location in the country. “Where East Meets West.”
Duncan is only 30 odd miles south of Chickasha.

Kevin:
i am continuing to send swapmeet flyers along with items i sell ... it may be too late for many to plan to attend this years meet , BUT, these may serve as a reminder for next year ... i will remind our members here on the MTFCA site that this is not a new meet , but is an extension of an existing , successful established meet ... the addition of a special section for "pre-war" or atleast earlier collector parts and vehicles is a mutual benefit to both the general swapmeet crowd and our more specialized group ... i encourage our parts vendors and National clubs to list this meet and attend ... the presence of the club displays at the Chickasha meet in years past did much to increase the interest and understanding of a variety of vehicles and technologies including steam and sleeve valve engines , friction drive and electric ...i am encouraged and optimistic regarding the success of this meet based on the conversations i have had with my customers and fellow hobbyist and am looking forward to the 700 + mile drive to and back from this meet ...see you all there ...always an optimist Gene French

Folks just a few weeks away from the 1st pre-war swap meet in Duncan Ok. Kevin Hammack has been trying to invite and welcome all pre war auto enthusiasts whether a shopper, vendor or a combination of the two. This swap meet could be a logical revision of things to come. Many of us have a love for the earliest vehicles but also dabble in more modern vintage vehicles. The beauty of this meet is the opportunity to not only meet the needs of the pre war folks but to introduce car enthusiasts that attend to take a walk on the slow side. Perhaps we grow our hobby because of this opportunity, I certainly hope so. As with any new addition there are going to be hiccups but we can work through them. I would love to see in the near future folks bringing their pre war vehicles to the swap for display & perhaps organized tours associated with the meet. Though I don’t remember organized tours at Chickasha, I do remember many prewar vehicles being brought for display & transportation around the town. That would be awesome if it became a regular event again.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Please attend if possible. Best John

We have 4 spaces inside one of the buildings. We are supposed to be beside the porcelain sign guy. Look for our roof top tent on top of our Tacoma, as we camp on the spaces. I know there will be some growing pains from the move, but everyone seems to be working hard to make it a good meet. Let's all try to support the move and try to have the old Chickasha meet rise from the ashes at Duncan ... See ya'll there ..

Donnie:
this meet may surprise many people regarding parts and interest ... our AACA group has had a general swapmeet for many years and the variety of parts and cars were always wide ranging ... often times a odd vehicle would turn up that is seldom seen or even known to the general auto. crowd ... also there was often vintage parts taken from a "restoration" project turned into a hot rod project that had been abandoned ... sometimes just a pile of " stuff" but sometimes a source for needed parts ... the old " box of chocolates" idea ... anyway , we will know in a few weeks and will likely be pleased with the concept and potential for growth ... see you all there ...Gene French

I have acquired front fender molds for Model A Ford fiberglass fenders ... is there any interest in these items ? would be cheap at $150 per set , but they are bulky and i will not haul to the swapmeet unless pre-sold... these could also be picked up at my site in Nunn, Colorado 80648 ... i will supply pictures in the next several days ...Gene French

This may be a dumb question but what payment is accepted at these swap meets? I realize cash is king but nowadays it not best to carry a lot of cash while traveling. Art

...what payment is accepted at these swap meets?
Those who sell goods as their regular business are likely to accept credit cards. A few will take checks from people they know. Hobbyists prefer money.

most people have a paypal account ... payment can be made by paypal in many cases and the seller will receive notification on their phone or p.c.... i don't know what period of time passes for this notification to occur ,but this may be a reasonable solution to the carrying of too much cash ... gene french

A contingent of Model T guys from the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque will be at Duncan. We've reserved 4 spaces in Bldg. C. We always had a fun time at Chickasha, and hope Duncan will be as enjoyable. It's also opportunity to see many of our friends in the hobby. I've seen Steve Jelf at Chickasha through the years, but he was usually talking to someone and I didn't have an opportunity to say hello. I'm very glad that he is feeling well enough to attend this year.
P.S. Does anyone out there have a circa 1910 buggy rail or NRS parts for sale who might be going to Duncan?
Thanks! - Mark Wing

We plan to be there with our trailer load of NOS ignition parts. We'll have point sets, condensers, distributor caps, rotors, horn relays, cutouts and other electrical parts for most makes and models from 1910 to 1960. We are in a building but I'm not sure which one at this time.

I signed up and am in the third section of indoor prewar spots.
Not sure what that means, but the first 2 sections got filled up.
Come on out, get a spot, or just come shopping.
