1916 T Touring?

Here’s a real Model T photo that’s actually real and shows what I think is a 16 T Touring. What’s interesting is the tool box on the running board and how’s its attached using extra long bolts. Makes me wonder why the long bolts used and maybe it’s all they had at the time?
The hood is covered for some reason and probably for cold weather using the side curtains to keep the cold and wet weather out.
I noticed it because I have a unrestored running board box like the one shown that’s deep like this one. The real T photos are still around and it’s good to see this one on Facebook.

Interesting ! The lady and little girl aren’t dressed for cold, but the T is sure buttoned up against wet weather. I’m guessing the hood cover is to keep the plugs dry and not shorting out in a real goose-drowner ? The stock T hood allows plenty of rain to descend on the engine through the center hinge.
Those long bolts surely wouldn’t survive an length of a drive. Perhaps they are meant to secure something within the tool box (battery ?) that was removed temporarily at the time this photo was taken ?
Great photo by the way, thanks for posting it. Not many pix of cars with fully deployed side curtains !

Maybe those bolts were holding down a battery that is not in the box now. Maybe their charging the battery.......

I’m not sure those are bolts. There’s a cord draped across the stamped door that could have its end hanging under the car.

The one "cord" is probably the wires from the electric spot-lamp mounted on the windshield frame going down into the battery box where the battery isn't because it is out being recharged at that moment in time.
There is another cord probably to hold the hood cover on while driving maybe? Seems odd that it should hold the cover back rather than forward?
Just speculating.
Really great photo and discussion regardless! Thank you all.

As dirty as that T is it looks to me like the side curtains and hood cover might be installed to keep the dust out!
