This is an UNSOLICITED post. Sometimes you're just so impressed w/ a product you have to let everyone know about. I just installed 2 of these 6 volt LED Headlight bulbs

I'm literally BLOWN away, and it takes a LOT for me to say that about a product. These are actually originally made for video projectors which explains why the pattern is so precise and the brightness so insane. I had LED bulbs previously that I installed 8 or 10 years ago but they sucked. These are in a different galaxy. The design is also quite elegant - I don't know who designed them but they nailed it. You can rotate the beam for perfect alignment. and the high beams are actually high beams.

I drive w/ my lights on all the time. Both of these bulbs only draw about 1-2 amps, so hardly anything. Aside from the brightness, LED bulbs are better because they don't tax your generator and you can use a lower charge rate and add years of life to your generator. My business is refurbishing gens, so I lose out on this, but these bulbs are worth a look.

Jeff... I totally agree with your observations... I bought these bulbs a little over a year ago. Turned them on and threw the others out. It not only takes less power to use. These headlight bulbs, is also easier on your generator and really doesn't take that much power for that generator to replace in the battery. I also bought LED stop lights and tail lights .

I ordered a pair of these last week and they are currently crawling their way across the country to get to my house. I am looking forward to seeing the improvement. I’ll try and take before and after pics inside my darkened shop.

Finally we have an LED bulb with its own lens that allows the beam to be directed. I have long railed against the substitute bulbs with multiple lED s in various arrays that just put out a great big blob of ill-directed bright blue light. These might even be appreciated by oncoming drivers if properly aligned.

$50 on Logolites website.
$37 on Langs website.

Bulbs were purchased from the manufacturer "Logo lights " before they were being sold by Lang's.

I installed these in my 26 last summer and have been very happy with them for the reasons stated. The only downside is for those who like the golden color of incandescent bulbs. I do, but I would rather see and be seen.

@adminjeff thanks for the heads up, I was looking to get them from logo....

Using LED headlights will greatly reduce generator strain to charge the battery... Even less strain would be to use LED bulbs in your stop and rear marker lights.... Just as Jeff mentioned.

I bought some LED bulbs for my new turn signal/stop lights, testing with a 7volt battery the incadescent were a lot brighter.

These were the press in type bulbs, I'll post a full report when I get my car...

You might be able to lightly tint your headlight lenses to simulate the incandescent look.

Are these single contact or double contact bulbs?

The owners want to add flashers and directionals

Keith .... Those are double contact headlight bulbs.... The rear running lights and stoplight bulbs are single contact.... CP-1 or #1680 - 6 volt incandescent bulbs give a brighter glow and will work with directional flashers and 4 way flashers.

I just ordered the bulbs from Lang's, they are 3-4 weeks out on a re-stock on them.

I have some bulbs I ordered from amazon @ $9 each, I'll install them in the mean time, and compare those to the stock bulbs, then compare the logos to the $9 bulbs when I get those....

Lang's just got these back in stock today......

worth every penny. A great bulb.

I have it in one of my T's and I am not super impressed, but maybe I should give it a little more in adjusting the lens.

The bulbs I got from amazon would require some re-wiring, and since the logolites are plug and play, I decided not to try the amazon ones...

I'll donate them to a club member

I had been using the factory bulbs on city streets with streetlights and my visibility was tolerable on the "dim" and "dimmer" settings...

The lens of these type of bulbs is pre-set. There is no adjustment for focus, only direction. The T reflector plays no part in the lighting effort, or the direction of the beam. This is how modern car lights work. On a T the direction is only adjustable by bending the stalk on the headlamp bucket.

I got my bulbs installed,

The adjustment on these is a little confusing, none of their videos explain it.

I imagine I need to be in the dark facing a wall to see what needs adjusting….

But already they look better and brighter.

Maybe they are not adjustable. Maybe all you can do is aim them correctly. That means bending the headlight stalks as appropriate. Original bulbs can be focused by adjusting the focus screw so their light can be properly reflected by the headlight reflector. Led's do not use the original reflector to focus their output.

So reading the full directions from the website helped..

It was much easier to check with the bezels off.

The beams are horizontal tv looking with the bright almost like a double image

You have the bulbs installed... Great!... The only thing you have to do is properly aim and you can still use the reflectors.

Just in time for it to be light enough in the morning and evening not to need headlights to and from work...........

I too installed these LED headlight bulbs in my ‘24 Touring and am very happy with light I can actually see with driving at night. We don’t drive often at night, but if for some reason we are detained wherever we are, we drive home being able to see the road clearly. Also if a deer jumps out at me, I might be able to stop before I have a wreck. I’m all about safety. Glad so many fellow hobbyists enjoy the same thing I do. Happy motoring!

So, adjusting the bulb so the black strip is at the top is to get the beams parallel to the ground. That takes care of the orientation of the bulb in varying sockets. The shape and spread of the beam is fixed by the inbuilt lens the bulb has. As that lens sets the focus of the bulb, screwing the light focus screw should have no effect. Because the LED sends its output to the front, the Ford reflector is redundant. The only light it can reflect is that which may be scattered by the fluted lens in the headlamp. Or have I got it wrong, again.

I believe you are correct about focus, Allan. The stock reflector is not used. The fluted stock headlight lens may have a negative effect on the focused beam from the LED unit. If so, replacing the fluted lens with a plain flat lens should eliminate any problems.

Not having a plain flat lense, I think the fluting helps diffuse the beam in a good way.

It hides the horizontal “tv” shape a little.

So far I’m very happy.

There is an older version that uses the reflector, but it doesn’t look like Langs carries those.

The older ones which use the original reflectors are the problem child. LED's emit light on one direction only. To make use of the original reflectors in T head lights, and others, multiple stacks of LED's are used in various arrangements to point light at the reflectors. The result is a great big blob of ill directed, poorly focused white light hitting the road. I seriously doubt these type of bulbs meet any vehicle design rules/regulations.

WillyR is correct, the fluted lens, a Frenzel Lens, is what focuses the light down the road.
The original flat glass head lights caused glare to on coming drivers. Laws were passed that resulted in a variety of designs. Many had hood eyelids a frenzel lens. We'll need to see what the results are with a fluted lens. It may make little difference since it was intended to create a horizontal pattern

There is no need to polish the original headlight reflectors because the Focused Beam LED Headlights do not use the reflectors. In fact, there is no need for you to focus the headlights. The bulb lenses are focused at the factory and work with the headlight’s Fresnel lens to produce a modern light pattern on the road".

There's the answer to the lens question.

I'm reluctant to use LED bulbs in my Model T... First off, they're not a period accessory, Second, they are way too bright for a 100 year old car, and Third, the light they throw is white! I'm sorry but Model T's are know for their annoyingly dim, yellowish headlamps! The solution, don't drive a Model T at night

I think that’s all fine and dandy, we all have our reasons for driving the venerable T.

Personally I don’t want 12v or a distributor but I do want stop lights, turn signals, and visible headlights.

Most importantly I must have a stylish bud vase.. I haven’t decided if I will change the plastic flowers seasonally, this is a nice spring mix of wildflowers…
