Making new babbitt molds

My dad has been pouring babbitt for a number of years now, and has used a variety of different molds. He came up with a set of unknown brand molds for Model A engines a while back, but is missing the rod mold. He really likes the way the molds work on the block bearings, but struggles when it comes to the rods with other mold designs. So I made up the missing mold. He may try it out later today…

Got a whole box of that make of molds. Not sure who they were, but they made molds for early V8 too.
Don’t think they made T stuff. I liked them for A work.

pretty sure those molds that pour from the end of the bearing were made by Hempy Cooper. I've seen A, B and V-8 versions.

First test pour went very well last nite! All except for the rusty rod and dirty babbitt that dad used. Apparently he has some tinning paste on order, and will make an official attempt in the next few days

Nice! I have been using Gene's mold and pouring block and caps vertical instead of horizontal.
