Hi all,

I thought I would stick this up for all who like to watch junk on YouTube to help them fall asleep.

If anyone is rebuilding and needs advice - use Mike Bender’s Model R Tips videos - don’t use mine.
How ever I will say the the outside oil line I made is great and when I get my oil pump and filter working it will extend oil changes and generally keep her healthier - even if I only use it after engine shut down.

I struggle making videos, I always hope they will be useful to someone and I also do them as a sort of video album for myself. However I always feel a bit self conscious and hope I do not sound pretentious!
The T has been a long task and has given me a real appreciation for the craftsmanship of old engineering.

It's an excellent video. Way above the average.

Bob, this is another excellent video! Anyone who uses Lego in a Model T engine rebuild video deserves our respect. Those valve stem caps are a great solution for anyone who finds their stems have become too short. Neat.

One of the key issues I have found with building my T is getting good information and trying to navigate between the cheap solution, available solution and the gold plated solution (which may actually be plated with fool’s gold). Anyway I really enjoy your videos and thanks to everyone on the forum. This resource really helped me get through the confusion and complexity of what should really be a simple car!

Obtaining a good result when rebuilding early engines depends on the skill, knowledge, and care of the fitter/assembler even more than does rebuilding the later model stuff that features precision insert bearings, adjustable or hydraulic lifters, and so forth.

Bob, Just watched your video. Very informative, and the tips on valve stem grinding, and getting the proper valve lash is fantastic info. Well worth watching, nicely done sir.

Engines that have come to me for re-builds that have had the wrist pin bolts wired in, I find the wire on the magnets or in the pan.

With the wrist pins, I did worry about the wire locking. I am taking the pan off after a few miles to just check everything, so will look to see how it is holding up. It is the thicker stainless wire that is used for propellor bolts, so it normally holds up, but a good idea to check just in case as really do not want to do this all again anytime soon!

Just thought I would put this link up in case anyone wants to see how she looks now I have the engine in. I struggle to find time to edit videos what with my job and trying to teach my boy maths, so not sure when I will finally put up the next proper video about the T.

Most of the video is a bit boring with me yakking on about projects, so skip over all that junk to 33:47. I have not got many miles on her yet, but thanks to advice from some on here, I finally got her running nice, so hope to get her out more over the next few weeks. Kevlar bands are at last bedded in and she feels quite smooth. AC brakes are beginning to work too, they took a fair time to get some bite. The clunk she had in the transmission has gone and she now climbs hills quite happily (well kind of).
I apologise for drifting away from a more conventional look. I did try to keep her period correct, but I like stainless steel. She is however fairly standard otherwise with coils and magneto.
