front hub identification

My late Oct 11 built Touring came with restored wheels with two different style front hubs. From reading past posts and an article by Royce I think I have one early hub without a step machined for a speedometer gear and one later with the machined step. I think the non machined one is correct. Would you use the early non stepped one on the right with the Stewart speedometer gear or use the machined one with that same gear ? Art

If you would like to be absolutely pure, why not machine the lip off, and then your hub will be correct!

Show us a photo of the front side of both hubs/wheels - it's very easy to identify them.
