Anyone Install a dome light in their depot hack?

Post by signsup » Wed Jan 16, 2019 8:31 pm

Doing a frame off restoration of a 27 depot hack. Got a wooden slat leatherette top, so I'd have to figure out a way to make the wiring look good, but I'm thinking of putting one or two 6v dome lights in for nighttime ease in getting in and out. Switch controlled from the drivers compartment, no refrigerator type buttons on the doors, but I might even look at that option.

Anyone put dome lights or courtesy lights in their hacks or other T's? I'd be interested in some photos of what you did and how you did it.

Thanks in advance.
Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?

A bunch of old cars
Sometimes they run.
Sometimes, they don't.

As seen on tour in Rapid City years ago. Really neat way to put courtesy lamps on his hack.

Custom wood worked upright, and some period lamps of fancy ;) metal!

My first thought would be to make them self-contained and battery powered, all the while hoping nobody ever asks where the wires are.
